Shaping Futures–From Classroom to Calling
In 2024, World Witness introduced our faithful supporters to Samreena, a fourth-generation Christian who had been accepted into the School of Nursing in Sahiwal, Pakistan. Her story reflected both perseverance and promise, an example of what becomes possible when access to education is paired with a faithful, supportive partnership. Thanks to the continued support of our ARP Church family, Samreena and her classmates will reach a historic milestone as the first class at the School of Nursing to graduate with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
This March, you are invited into a new opportunity to help shape the future of these young women. Through our March fundraising campaign, we aim to support a new cohort of nursing students with life-changing scholarships that will impact not only their lives but also the countless patients across Pakistan who will be blessed by their care. Our campaign’s theme, Shaping Futures – From Classroom to Calling, reflects the journey these students undertake as they prepare to serve with skill, compassion, and a deep faith in the physical and spiritual healing power of Jesus Christ.
For many girls and women in Pakistan, access to education beyond childhood is limited by forces that take shape early in life. Cultural expectations, economic hardship, and restricted schooling opportunities often narrow a girl’s future before she has the chance to imagine it. Professional careers, especially in fields requiring advanced training, remain out of reach for many women across the country.
For Christian women, these barriers are often even higher. As a religious minority within an Islamic state, Christian families frequently experience systemic discrimination, social marginalization, and even fewer educational and employment opportunities than their majority counterparts. Prejudice against the Christian community can limit advancement at every stage, making respected professions such as nursing exceptionally difficult to pursue. In this context, education is not only scarce; it is transformative.
The School of Nursing, supported by World Witness and the ARP community at large, exists to respond to these realities. The program provides rigorous academic instruction, hands-on clinical training, and spiritual formation that prepare students to serve in their profession with excellence and compassion. Graduates are equipped to meet Pakistan’s national healthcare standards (and are often sought after internationally) while carrying a deep commitment to holistic care. They care for each patient with dignity, offering presence and hope through the Holy Spirit.
For many students, enrollment in the nursing program represents a first opportunity to learn and work independently, earn a professional income, and contribute financially to their families. Graduates may remit earnings back home, support younger siblings’ education, and achieve a level of economic stability that earlier generations of women in their families could not access. These outcomes ripple outward, strengthening families, communities, and healthcare systems alike.
The success of the School of Nursing is rooted in a long history of partnership. For decades, the ARP Church, through World Witness, has walked alongside the local administrators and medical leaders in Sahiwal— supporting facilities, faculty development, accreditation efforts, and student scholarships. The graduating Class of 2025 stands as a testament to this shared commitment and to the enduring fruit of faithful investment over time.
