Lithuania Christian Counseling
In Lithuania's post-Soviet, culturally conservation society, it is not acceptable to discuss personal or family problems outside innermost circles. Added to that are many superstitions, fears, and severe legalistic responses in relation to emotional and mental-health issues. The country has the second-highest suicide rate, one of the highest levels of alcoholism, and the sixth-highest divorce rate in the world.
Within the small Protestant community, most pastors have almost no training in pastoral counseling.
Through the Lithuania Christian Counseling Project, we hope to:
- Provide seminars and scholarships to local Christian leaders and lay people, for training in Biblical counseling.
- Translate Christian counseling materials into the Lithuanian language.
- Offer individual, small-group, informal counseling through our church.
